Born in the Year of the Monkey and raised on a street in Los Angeles, California that connected Twentieth Century Fox Studios on one end to Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios on the other, I was destined to be a part of the entertainment industry.
I was educated at Beverly Hills High School (which has a strong professional and creative presence in the industry, often characterized as the "Beverly Mafia"); I received my BA from Stanford University in 1978, and my JD from Loyola Law School in 1981. I lived in France while attending Stanford in 1977 and speak French proficiently. I also worked on Capitol Hill for Congressman Anthony C. Beilenson in 1978.
I commenced my first job out of law school at Lorimar Productions ("DALLAS", "FALCON CREST", "KNOTS LANDING", etc.) whereat I ran the business affairs and merchandising and licensing divisions for an international division. I later became the Senior Vice President of Crown International Pictures, Inc., a major independent film production and distribution firm with a presence in the entertainment community over the past four decades.
For nearly thirty years now, I have represented clients with about as many issues and concerns as colors in a crayon box. I prefer the intimacies of a one-on-one client relationship to the anonymity of a large firm concerned mainly with billing enough hours to cover the high cost of overhead. I am a deal maker, not a breaker, and describe myself as a business person with a legal education. The melange of the two is what I believe best serves my clients.
